Before the Final Bomb

A few minutes under shelter

in the bomb shelter
  the pregnant woman cries
—another bang! 
  the shelter shudders
a child 
  looks at her mother
the mother smiles
  a tired, strained
"it's alright" smile
under another bomb
  hurtling towards them
a missile
  shot anomynously
from the neighbouring sky
  for no reason or rhyme
other than to murder
  and the bomb continues to fall
